Brian and others: How do you play the fried egg lie bunker shot where the ball ies in its's own saucer of sand. I am quite a good bunker player but am unsure how to play the shot. In normal good lie bunker shots I tend to enter the sand quite close to the ball 1 1/2" behind the ball taking a shallow cut of sand which spins the ball a lot. This point of entry corresponds to the edge of the saucer so I tend to enter the sand at a point further back and aim to go deeper into the sand as the ball is sitting down in it's own divot. I also play the shot with a less open club face. I can get the ball out OK but the ball does not have much spin and I have limited control on the outcome. Should you play these shots with a stab motion or a smooth follow through as in the normal trap shot? How do you play this shot. Thanks.
