Hello.

I'm a junior golfer, about a 7 handicap looking for some advice. I have a serious problem on my downswing obviously but I cannot seem to figure out what it is. Any advice from the experts?

The guys talking in the background are instructors at the camp I was filmed at.

First one is 5 iron, second is driver.

My Swing

Not really an expert here, but have studied my swing a lot. What I see is:

1. The left wrist is bent at the top of backswing which opens the clubface. Keep it flat from the start of the backswing.

2. Need to have the right shoulder more on plane at the top of the backswing--tilt some more down with the left shoulder.

3. Keep the right heel on the ground during your downswing.

4. Let the downswing start by a small lean of the hips to the left.

5. Check Brian's "catch the club"(I think its called) drill to keep the arms and hands relaxed and to allow the pivot to get them to the ball.

6. Keep the left wrist from bending throughout the whole swing--look at Brian's picture in the Never Slice Again video cover.

7.(and maybe most important) Get some of Brian's videos--I would suggest Never Slice Again to start with.

Hope this helps--From what I see, you have the making of a great swing with a lot of potential power.

PFD...as I see it...

Firstly, good swing for your age mate, there are some things that are happening that as you get stronger will become easier to deal with.

Secondly, if you have a coach then you have to trust him to make the right calls...so forum instruction needs to be taken with the right frame of mind.

2 things I would look at are weight shift and hand/wrist action and they tie in together. What your coach (i assume it is your coach talking) is saying about hanging back is correct, but there are reasons you do that...i should know, tend to do the same myself at times.

The clubface is too open and you are flipping it a bit to close it, learn how to roll the forearms through impact without bending the left wrist, once you are doing that if your weight shift stays as is you will dump the club into the ground or hook it off the planet. If you get the pivot working too you should get a more pentrating ballflight than you currently have.

Try slow swings looking in a mirror to get the weight shift feeling, and see how it all goes.

Good luck.
