This is my first post so please be gentle. I have been golfing for 2 years and i normally hit the ball a pretty long way, ie. 7 iron 175-180 yds. But recently i have lost a significant amount of distance. Now my best 7 goes 145, i know part of the problem is that i have to hit from heated stalls off of mats this time of year, but should i really be losing this much distance? My mi****s are towards the heel, and my missed shot direction is a 10-15 yd hook. Any help would be appreciated.

thanks

kurt

they are doing fine. I just talked to Mr. Pinter a few days ago and he is giving my resume to the head pro at Warwick Hills for my 1st internship. He really doesn't seem all that friendly until you actually talk to him. The first day of class he had me second guessing my decision to be here, but so far i have decided to stick with it. Do you work at a golf course in gr?

brian, i also have one more additional question, is the downswing squat something i should focus on to start the downswing or should it be a result of a properly sequenced downswing?

thanks

Sounds like you started to SCOOP it a bit when you started hitting off of the mats and now you have lost compression.

The heel hits indicate coming from below plane, and you are probably REVERSE swiveling to 'cut off' the draws.

Yoy need to learn to SWIVEL correctly first and then hit down on it enough to make it go straight.

Read the Never Slice Again article and disregard the backswing info.

Least of your worries right now.

Do above and report back ;)!

to help get rid of the scoop, would a drill in which i take my right thumb off the club help to increase lag help?

thank you very much.

Yes Kurt...it's a great drill.

But the best one is learn to hit chips, then pitches, then punches...'finishing' your swing at the both arms straight follow-thru, with a flat or ARCHED left wrist and a BENT right wrist.

i have started using that drill and it has worked wonders, now i have just a very slight 1 or 2 yard draw, if not then straight, my ball flight went up slightly as well, which is what i needed. Also my contant is much better, and mi****s are infrequent.

Thanks all,

kurt
