Pls advise on Project X shafts

I'm using DG X100 at the moment and wondering if I should try out the Project X series just because of the hype.

Should I get Project X Flighted, or Project X?

Any feedback from players who've tried these would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Tong,

You can't believe how many "love em or hate em" stories I hear about these. I've been playing X100's for years and am somewhat of a low ball hitter. I tried someone else's 5-iron that had the PX 6.0 in it and I couldn't believe how stable it felt and the ball-flight was great. I decided to do an experiment and re-shafted just my 3-iron and my 5-iron with the PX6 (not flighted). I like the way my 3-iron performs but it seems that the 5i can balloon on me a little and I don't like that. I can't be certain it's the shaft, it just seemed to happen more than usual. Though I haven't had a lot of evaluation time with them I'm probably going to re-shaft the 5 with the X100 and leave it at that. I don't think I'll see enough benefit for the expense.

One of the things I heard from a tour player I know is that you need to have a good fitter install these as the weights can be "all over the place". I don't know if that's truly the case or not.

My suggestoin is that you spend a little money and reshaft a couple of your clubs before you commit $400+ to getting your whole set reshafted.

Project X 6.0

I have had the Project X in my 755's for about 6 months after Brian recommended them to me.

I was using DG-S300 and the PX's are smoother, more stable, and about a half a club longer. The trajectory is more boring, which is important out here in the wind.

No going back for me.

Then why do more tour players use Project X?

Because black golds tend to spin more and fly a bit higher like a normal rifle compared to the project x. The black gold is more similar to Rifles than project x even though "on paper" they are supposed to be like the project x.

Make sure you get projectx in satin finish. Very smooth shaft.

Please don't start that rumor here, True Temper bought all the machines and are producing the exact same shaft at even BETTER tolerance levels. The quality has increased significantly. I remember when you had to buy 2-3 sets of project x shafts just to pick out the best shafts to make a consisent set.

True Temper?? Ehhh?

Is a fact Jack, the new project x shafts suck. :p

The Project X shafts may be better now that True Temper has owned them for more than a year but I know there was a problem with consistancy throughout the set at one time. You should check it on a frequency meter.

I say hit the Project X and hit the Black Golds and then decide. I bet you you will definitely have a strong preference for one or the other, as they are very different feeling shafts. I don't find that the BG's have that much higher a trajectory than the PX and the BG's definitely don't balloon. But the feel of the two shafts is very distinct.

I very much like the smoothness of the BG and I don't plan to play any other shaft for quite some time. But lots of folks prefer the PX.
