Point the club at the target!

I like that idea. I've seen it mentioned a few times. At first I didn't know WTH Brian was talking about but then I just tried it. It helps me because sometimes I have a SUPER flat backswing. There's been a few times where I'll swing it back and STOP, look back, and my club is almost horizontal to the ground (not kidding). So is that what the drill is meant for? A flat backswing? I was also thinking it helps with a better turn? Not sure. Anyone playing around with this drill?

PS Anyone else have a SUPER flat backswing? Any idea why it's sooo flat? Thanks again.

I know exactly what he's talking about, but it's easier to explain in person.

Basically, the more you rotate your left arm, the more the butt of the club will point in front of you, and your left thumb will point more behind you.
This also leads to a laid off position at the top and, as I understand it, a clubface that is more open relative to the plane.

A good drill or swing thought is to try and point the butt of the club at the ground behind you on the backswing.

I use to have a very flat backswing, but cured it with using my right forearm to take the club to the top.
