Brian,
I finally got the camera out for the first time since our Oct 1st lesson. I've been working on the things we talked about, and hoped I'd seen some of it transferring over to my real swing.
So there I was on camera, making those exaggerated backswing motions we talked about - high wide left elbow, shaft across the line, steeper shoulders, etc. Just what I expected to see - so far so good.
Then I'd step up and hit the ball, and what I saw was the same ol' laid off, low left elbow bulls**t that makes me nauseous.
Obviously, my brain won't let me make that backswing when it knows it's going to have to hit the ball. I would have swore that I was making better backswing than that, but the camera doesn't lie.
Seems like I need to do something different. How about making the practice backswing motions, stopping at the top, then actually hitting the ball from there? Any suggestions.
I realize that my biggest problem is that I won't allow myself to hack-it-up on the range with people all around me. If I was out there by myself, then it wouldn't bother me as much, and I think progress would come easier.
Thanks,
Tracy
ps : I shot 73, 74 this past weekend, obviously with the old backswing, so I'm playing pretty good. But, I'll never be satisfied with this motion.
