Proper wrist action

Let's pretend I get the club going back how most people like it, shaft parallel to the ground and pointing down the target line.

What next?

What's the proper wrist action?

The way I see it I can bend my right wrist back which puts my club more behind me in a flatter position OR I can cock my left wrist which puts the club more vertical. I assume you want the perfect blend but what is that?

The reason I ask is that I think my right wrist action is one of the causes for me having a more flattish position.

It seems like the more I cock my left wrist the less my right wrist bends and vice versa. If that is correct, can you bend your right wrist too much? Less left wrist cock less power?

Thanks and I hope I made sense.

By flat, do you mean laid off? Right hand has a lot to do with your position at the top. In my case, I have always had a little bit of "pop-out" in the take away, which can lead to the tendency to get laid off. But I've never had the club in a laid off position in my life. I am very across the line at the top because of what my right hand does toward the top/end of my backswing.

Yeah, you may be right. If you are asking more about the wrist positions in relation to each other and the other clubhead...

...I can just relate this: that I've always had a weaker right hand grip, and Brian was able to create a swing to accommodate that. Since then, I've gotten more standard, and my thought is to have the back of the right hand parallel to he leading edge (when right hand bend).

Despite yellow book pronouncements, I find cocking the left wrist and flattening the right can be fairly independent. I can bend right back w/o cocking left; I can cock left w/o bending right.

I had flat issues too, but not really due to the grip. More like a desire to achieve early pitch elbow on BS. Go Nicklaus - arms up and right elbow out!
