Putting Arc

I don't have the Putting Arc, but I have the Z-Factor Perfect Putting Machine. I actually hardly use it. I'm more interested in face angle at and after impact along with reading greens and developing speed/touch. IMO, I think it's good for a beginner to learn the basics of a solid putting stroke, but I'm a little leery of more advanced players using one.

Don't TOUR players use them sometimes? I don't have one, I'm trying to learn the piston type dominate arm Golden Bear stroke...works pretty well so far.

Yes, I've seen Tour players at Tour events practice with them. Most of them seem to prefer the good ole chalkline though.

I like the putting arc. I have never been measured but i know i have a great putting stroke and won't go into why i think i do BUT i will say i have no problems with how it works and how my stroke works. So if you like to putt that way yes i'd say it's good.

However i'd like to try out Brian's "Sheriff" as i think that thing is like a putting arc on steroids.

You probably have a great stroke cause you make alot of putts....pretty good analysis on my part huh:p:D Yeah..if I did buy one thing for the stroke it would br the "Sheriff"..pretty sweet.

They find a straight putt on the practice green and then snap a chalkline from the hole to where they want to putt from. Helps with aim and stroke path. Most Tour pros use an arc stroke and they mostly use the chalkline to make sure they are using that arc stroke instead of cutting across the ball.

Although D-Plane is alive and well in putting so it's far, far, far more important to have putter face control than worrying about the path. Path is really just 'window dressing' IMO. Learn how to read putts, learn how to develop touch, learn how to aim and learn how to take a *consistent* stroke and you'll become a fabulous putter. Loren Roberts uses a dreaded 'cut across' stroke and is still the Boss of the Moss because he has those other factors going for him.

Jim, why do you think it's better? Big difference in $

Quote from Brian:

"I have used various things for a putter plane board over the years.

And, the "Putting Arc" is an excellent device.

But!

When you practice your stroke with resistance TO THE INSIDE, you grove a stroke slightly more INSIDE then you intended.

The Sheriff is the FIRST device that evens out the resistance above and below the putter, which is ideal."

Just like good ole Ben never messed with Brian's sand game; Brian has never messed with my putting game. Hopefully that helps :)

I have a putting arc and stopped using it because I was getting to inside - just as Brian stated. Lead to pushes and pulls. I use a square face an try to go up and down the line.
