Putting Grips

How many of you use a neutral (vertical left wrist) grip with putting?

I usually do. I'm just curious cause I can't seem to make a stronger one feel natural AT ALL.

I'm not sure if it has to do with it not fitting on a pistol grip (flat sides) well or what.

I'm screwing with a stronger grip for the rest of my game.....can't seem me not sticking to neutral for putting tho.

How many great putters have used stronger grips? I think Locke had a stronger one.

Just wondering if it's common.....or if neutral is pretty much standard.

FWIW I switched to the crosshand or left hand low, whatever you want to call it this year and have been rolling it better than I ever have before.

I also thinking gripping the putter as lightly as possible without losing control and maximizing feel is greatly underrated.

I think most of the great putters who used strong grips played long ago when the greens were much slower and putting required more of hit to get the ball to the hole. I don't know of any putters in the modern era that use a strong grip. The funkiest thing I can recall is the claw used by DiMarco and Calcavecchia which Johnny Miller takes credit for inventing=)

Bman,

You generally hold the putter grip in the palm of your hand, as opposed to "in the fingers" with your normal clubs, where you have to wrap your left heel pad around the grip to make contact..
therefore it is no problem having a weak grip (back of left hand facing target)...and same with right hand - palm facing target...

??

PLEASE ASK AGAIN...

I don't understand...

I know it is no problem. It's for sure how I putt best at the moment. And it makes sense.

I was just tinkering and wondering if many people do better with a stronger one.

I know Locke was great.

Jones? Good putter I think. Same strong grip?

Freddie good on long ones I think. Nothing special as I understand.

Daly.......

Goosen?

....dunno.

I think I would need a round grip to at least give it a more fair 'shake(ski)'.....
