Putting - offset impact

Seeing the present posts on putting reminded me of some ideas I have posted on another forum quite some time ago.

With putting there is a lot of feel and it is hence interesting to use some objective mathematics to have a closer look at the issue of offset impact.

Unfortunately, you have modeled a crocquet mallet instead of a putter and, more significantly, by saying that a putter head is a freebody colliding with the ball, you have proved that you are among the many who don't realize that a putt is a miniature drive and therefore the line of compression must be sustained to maximize separation velocity. MizunoJoe, saying something does not mean it is so. ;)

Would you mind explaining why I should value your arguments.

Research? Mathematics? Experiments?

I am open to any arguments, always anxious to learn.

Dirt, golf clubs, and real golf balls rather than integral equations, graph paper, and wiffle balls.

So you're only going to try and argue science when it suits you???

You're a hoax, son!

MizunoJoe, I fail to see any logical connection between

“line of compression” , “separation velocity”

and

“dirt”, “golf clubs”, “real golf”.

Is it just me not seeing it or is it perhaps that you employ simply a rather strenuous and tenuous argumentation? :D
