For about the past two weeks I have changed my Manzella style grip. Instead of the interlocking right pinky and left index finger these two fingers rest next to each other in a kind of baseball grip. Everything else in Brian's article on the grip remains the same. I did this due to a severe cut on my right pinky finger that was only aggregavated when I used an interlocking grip. Amazingly I found that my clubhead control seemed to greatly improve as I shot the best four rounds (82, 80, 83, 82) of the season over the last two weeks.
Any explanation for this??? I do not find myself squeezing the club too hard with this type of grip. If anything, because of the cut on my finger I keep a looser grip. I was really hitting the ball well and wonder if it is worth going back to the interlocking grip once my finger is completely healed.
