Questions about grip

First, I would like to say hello to all. This site has been a saving grace to myself and my golf game. I came across it from a gentleman on another golf site. Needless to say, I have been back there only a few times since and check back here every night(thank Leek).

Anyway, to my question. I have just got back to golf, after a few years break(big mistake...the break that is). I have done a swing overhaul by Brian's steps posted throughout this site. The main thing I did was change my grip to Brian's recommended grip. My problem is that after about a week of swinging the club, working on my grip at work and two rounds of golf. My left hand has developed a sore sport on the heel pad of my hand. While working on the grip at the office and swinging the club in the yard, I don't wear a glove. Only while playing do I wear a glove. My right pinky finger is also sore( I use the interlocking grip). I just wanted to know if this is normal? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

One more question? During my swing, I can feel the club work around in my grip. It almost feels like after I take my grip there is to much play. By that I mean that it feels like there's not enough grip for my right hand to grip on to. I wear a med/large glove. Do I need larger grips or am I not getting the grip correct?

Sorry so long winded.

Thanks in advance,
Rob

Thanks for replying Jim

I will try to take a picture of my grip. To me I would think that my pad IS on top of the grip. But, I am prob. wrong. How much of the pad on top is right? If I put everybit of the pad on top I am just to far right like wrist bent way to far. What about the pinky soreness? Is that common.

Thanks in advance,
Rob

Pinky soreness is kind of common for amatuer golfers who use interlock. Mostly because they use such a death grip and it will create pressure on the pinky.

Where in the hand IS it?

Sounds like you just don't have the grip quite correct.

The best detailed grip pictures I have out is in Never Slice Again. Have you seen it?

Brian,

I have not, yet. I will buy it soon. Money has been tight as of late(3 kids, summer sports, house..those will do it.:) ), so most of my monthly golf budget goes to just weekly playing. Next month though I will be picking up the DVD's you have aval. I have the PDF that you have that lays out the grip and I thought I followed it to a T. Thats what I get for "thinking".

Thanks in advance,
Rob

Thanks.

We aim to please.

The best information and best explanations in the business, and entertaining too.

But, trust me, this site could be MUCH better, and it will.

Your Name should be common place in clubhouse's around the states. Just a short story. Here where I live there is a pretty nice course called "Yankee Trace". I talked with the Teaching pro there about 4 years ago and agreed to a lesson. When I went for my first lesson with this "Teacher", while in the tee box he had me hit 5 balls with my 5 iron. Then told to move my foot. I hit 5 more balls and looked up to see him looking down the tee boxs to some members and then start to talk with them. My hour lesson turned into 15 min., needless to say I got my money back and never went to another.
Im just glad that I came to a site with people whom really do care if they help someone or not.

Thanks,
Rob
