Would "Going Tangential" in the first phase of the downswing (from the change of the directions to somewhere around when the hands reach left arm level) with the precise amount of mini-toss to prevent the jackknife-effect, produce more "lag" or less "lag" by the completion of that portion of the downswing?

Oh yes, sir! I've seen videos of my swing doing that with a driver. The angle between left arm and driver was about 80 degrees with the left arm parallel to the ground. With my old swing it was more 130 degrees at that point.

Now I just have to stop hitting my driver into the ground and learn to go normal ;-)
