Golf Teacher Excellence Program Seminar
at Lake Presidential Golf Club, Upper Marlboro, Maryland (near Washington D.C.)
Monday, October 12th, from 10 o'clock in the morning, until 5 pm, with Dinner at 6:30, and spirited discussion until...
& Tuesday, October 13th, from 9 o'clock in the morning, until 2 pm in the afternoon.
Purpose of Program
Process
For whatever reason, Golf Teaching Excellence is not even being attempted to be taught anywhere in the business.
The PGA of America has always been "club pro centric." Their Class "A" requirements are not very instruction heavy, and they have spent a lot of time and effort on the implementation of their University program for developing "General Practitioner" Golf Professionals.
The Golfing Machine, LLC does a great job of Authorizing Instructors to teach from the book The Golfing Machine, and puts on very good summits to supplement their A.I. program.
Every other teaching organization and individual teacher, who is "certifying" instructors, are doing so in their own methodology only.
Even with my Manzella Academy Instructor Program—with Tom Bartlett, Mike Finney, Chris Hamburger, Damon Lucas, Michael Jacobs, Jim Kobylinski, Ryan Smither, Kevin Shields, Steve Khatib, and Jon Hardesty, all "graduates"— I have sought to develop teachers with their own style and solutions to improving their students, as well as having an Academy that is completely open minded to all new technologies, developments, and science available within and from outside the golf teaching business.
There is nothing set in stone at the Manzella Academy except the desire for constant improvement.
What I am going to do with the Golf Teacher Excellence program is something different, something that I think has the chance to help grow golf all over the world, and make the game more fun for those who play it.
We're going to UPGRADE TEACHING worldwide.
Period.
Forget about the "Top Teacher Lists," everyone who knows anything knows they are total baloney.
Mention a "teach off" or a "live vote" for Top Teachers, and you'll give a person in power in the golf biz the hives.
Why?
Because NOBODY wants it to be about who can teach better.
Except the golfers.
We are going to DEFINE golf teaching excellence, we are going to DEMONSTRATE it, TALK about it, DISCUSS it, DEBATE it, DISSECT it, and TEACH YOU TO do it!
We are going to SHOW Golf Teaching Excellence, and we are going to CREATE more Golf Teaching Excellence.
What is Golf Teacher Excellence?
To define "Golf Teacher Excellence," we need to first understand why golfers take lessons.
Golfers take "lessons," go to Golf Schools, take Golf Classes, watch instructional videos, read instruction articles, and visit instructional forums, for basically three reasons:
1. To score lower
2. To hit "shots" better
3. To chase perfection
So, at the very basic level, Golf Teacher Excellence is the ability to get the golfers who come to you to score lower, hit shots better, and get closer to—and become better able to chase—perfection.
The faster the better.
With as many different types of golfers as possible.
In any kind of environment, with or without video or measurement devices.
And be able to do it in such a way that allows for long-term improvement.
But, there is a flip side.
You don't want to do any harm—if possible.
You don't want golfers to score worse, hit shots worse, and get further away from perfection.
Sometimes, obviously, you might make things worse in the short term to allow for longer-term improvements and upgrades.
But this should be kept to a bare minimum.
And, if possible, you want to do your job in such a way, as to make the experience enjoyable as well.
Additionally, you should also personally be in the process of upgrading yourself at all times.
Better knowledge, better dissemination of that knowledge, better demonstration ability, and better performance at your profession.
Everyday.
For as long as you are in the profession.
And you should be willing to share with other teachers, and upgrade the whole profession as well.
That about does it.
And we are going to start with this seminar.
The seminar is open to anyone.
We will start on day one with no B.S., no thanking our sponsors, and no speeches. We are there to make everyone smarter. Including ourselves.
At 10 am sharp, I will thank those in attendance, and we will go "straight to the video" and discuss some of the finest swings in history, for our first NO FLUFF segment.
Our goal is to put as much "meat" into the two days of the seminar as possible. Trackman Pro. Ultra-High Speed Video. Live Lessons. Spirited Debate.
More fun than you EVER HAD at a golf seminar.
But more importantly, more VALUE.
The seminar will cost the attendee $300 dollars.
There will be a $50 discount for TGM A.I.s, AMF Members, and Manzella Forum Members who have contributed to this site.
Including the Seminar fee, Airfare, Hotel and food, it will cost the air traveler from the US about $750-$1000 to attend, Internationals start at $1000, and for some, it will be much more.
It is my #1 goal to make your experience worth every penny, many times over.
You will leave with so many nuggets of information; you will make your money back fast.
Why else would anyone even attend an educational seminar?
Looking forward to sharing with you,
Brian
