Regripping during swing

Common problem of a lot of golfers, badly struck shot and when they put the club back down, toe is turned closed. Why is the toe turned closed, at what point in the swing is this happening and what are some of the causes and how do you cure it?

So....

Two reasons.

Two places.

Reason #1: Player is uncomfortable with the grip and wishes it to be stronger. They re-grip it in the takeaway.

Reason #2: Really off-center strike that TWISTS the club in the golfers hands at impact. :)

Trying to get the club to parallel when you're not quite flexible enough and loosing the last three fingers in your left hand.

didn't Bobby Jones mention in one of his instructional films indicate that he let the left hand loosen a little at the top of the swing? In fact, I just looked at it and he did indeed say this. Any particular reason that this worked for him?

It may have been a device to prevent his left elbow bending/overbending at the top...
Maybe he found he played better with a straighter left arm at the top, despite the regripping on the way down...

Or maybe it was his way of making sure he didn't grip too tight with his left hand
