Relative club speed

To Sharkey,

If memory serves correct you had some issues with the driver hooking too much. I'm wondering if your lower or perhaps lower club head speed relative to your 6 iron would be because you are trying to swing under control to avoid the hook. I'm also wondering if you tried to increase the speed during your time on the Trackman to see if you were just holding back or if you had anything in reserve.

When you gap your clubs later on the Trackman, you might see if you could get a little time to experiment to see if you could gain some speed. The other thing that trumps speed obviously is the smash factor and control (face and Path). If 95 miles an hour is your peak speed to gain the best control then that would be something your body have dialed in for the swing.

Thanks for all the responses. The iron shafts are KBS (120 grams?). i remember being surprised that I hit a heavier shaft better, but I
clearly did. I wish it was a bad fit on the driver but it isn't. Tried a few drivers and this was as good as I could do. Steve you have a
great memory, I do fight the occasional hook, but I've reduced the inside out a lot and its less of a problem. I wasn't holding back. Maybe my sequencing is off with the driver, IDK. So frustrating to hit nice irons and then feel like I couldn't bust a grape with a hammer. I have no pretentions of being "long" but I don't want to give away yards that are within reach.

I will never say "nooo" to feeeeling my way around in the dark .... but I will not do that for the golfswing by groping for "feeel" ...:D

You do realize that if you get pretty good, your scientifically validated/manufactured swing will evolve to the point that it will have its own subset of "feels" and you will use these often in order to play well? I know the F-word offends you but most of the top level players I have had the opportunity to talk to rely much more on 'feel' than forces, torques, physics...
