Reverse hips

Hello all,

I have suffered from reverse hips for a long time now and wanted to get the forums option on something. Reverse hips are when the left hip gets closer to the target at the top of the swing than at address. My question is could adding more hip slant in the backswing help me remove this problem? IE if I focus on getting my right hip higher on the backswing it seems to help this problem. Am I correct in this observation? What are the downsides of adding more hip slant? Thanks for your time. Kermitm

Art's advice to pre-set the right hip before you initiate your backswing would probably help. "Bumpy back - keepy back."
Kind of in line with your thinking about the higher right hip I would think.

You can have plenty of hip slant with reverse hips.

The question here is what are you path numbers like? With your reverse hips, barring roundhouse shoulders or a stone cold flip you were probably putting up some big RIGHT paths. If you can add some hip slide on your backswing you'll find you can start squaring up that path.

I second the hip slide in the backswing. This is something Brian and I worked on in my lesson to deal with my reverse hips. "Left hip toward the right ankle" was a backswing thought he gave me. I also like "left hip away from the target."
