I think the left shoulder tug and lagging the hosel are very related. For me, it is very hard to get the face turned over and the hosel out of the way if my whole body is moving and spinning left. If rotate the coupling point + make sure the hands come in (replace your left arm) then it will be harder to shank. But it still happens (ask me how i know!) despite best intentions. Motor skills are hard to change but do change if you think/work hard enough.
