Right elbow question....

My swing has been improving a lot since my lessons with Brian last fall. I got to a point where I was really hitting it good but...I would have my share of bad shots during a round. Still, dropped 4+ points off the handicap from March to June.

Had a physical set back that caused me to be out for almost a month. Since coming back, it seems I've gone a little backwards...still great shots but more inconsistencies.

So, in working hard on getting this swing to another level, I tried something yesterday that seemed to be something to move forward with.

I'm getting more bend at setup. Actually, way more. However, I am using Brian's set up article. Also, In the back swing, I am letting the right elbow barely touch my body and stay there during the turn back. From there, I get the left shoulder over the right leg and just let the elbow fold and not move from its position against the body.

There seems to be more assistance in getting the arms moving by using the body/elbow connection along with the shoulder turn.

The results were drives that I haven't hit in a few months. Straight (slight, slight draw) and lower. Good iron shots as well.

Does anyone use this trapping of the elbow against the body going back? In doing this, could I be leading myself into another mess of issues?

I try to keep my elbow close to my body and my right hand close to my shoulder. My BS looks similar to BM, but more dynamic and loaded. The uninitiated might mistake this for a move off the ball.
