Role of right arm in squaring the face

What role does the right arm have in squaring the clubface? I'm talking more about right arm straightening rather than wrist rotation. There used to be a belief that force across the shaft will keep the clubface open for longer whereas a more free wheel type of release will close the clubface easier. I experimented and this doesn't seem to be always true.

I'd love some color on this as well. It appears to me as if the right arm straightening through the downswing helps w/ 1) coupling point rotation 2) squaring the face 3) eliminating the need for excessive axis tilt 4) promoting a healthy clubhead path (I struggle w/ in to out).

Great question, Leo... and there are several obscure scientific papers that hint at the answer... but require some assumption too.

When you experimented, what doesn't always seem to be true and what happened to come to your conclusion?

Depends on how your right arm folded in the the backswing.

In and of itself the right arm bending and straightening shouldn't have any effect on squaring the face. How could it?
