I was hoping to get some help/advice from Brian and others on how to correct some of my swing faults that were uncovered this weekend during a lesson (non-tgm'er but respected teacher).
My ball flight was all over the place - army golf. Left right, etc. By the third hole I am aiming down the middle and steering it.
The teacher said my faults start from my setup (we refered to it as the snowball lesson). My toes were aligned left of the target and my hands/club a little too far forward. This caused the club to go inside while my setup/toe line restricted my turn back. My downswing move goes well forward while my head and chest drop down about 6 inches, making it very hard to get back to the ball and thus the dispersion pattern of my shots. It balso produces a very steep angle of attack and the club above the plane line.
The teacher recommended that I turn my toes more right (I am a righty) to help me get a better turn back. He put my hands/club back at more nuetral, with no real forward press to help get it going back better. He wanted me to really try and get a better turn back. Once back he wanted me to concentrate on keeping my head and chest up and not dip. He wanted a more even rotation going back and through as opposed to my now poor back and too much forward and down.
When I did it correctly, the ball would start straight. He wanted me to hit small wedges (20-30 yards) to get more even rotation and shallow out my swing.
I am athletic and once played D1 golf at a small program. Swingspeed w/ driver is 105, but do noot hit it nearly as far as I should due to, I think, this lunge down and forward.
Sorry for the long post and no pix, but I would appreciate any advice. thanks.

Unless you are swinging like a monkey on drugs.... get back to the hands.

Perhaps the best comments on the swing ever:

The mind is in the hands
Drag a heavy club (ppt3) to the inside back corner

Brian wrote a nice article on setup and grip. Give those a try. Without any pictures/video of your swing I can't me of much help. The setup is essential to making a decent swing. As far as your setup goes, a good rule of thumb is set everything parallel to the target line. Get your feet, hips, shoulders, etc. all parallel for now.

If you are lunging at the ball from the top (to start your downswing) then you need to do the inverse. Start the swing from the ground up. Begin the downswing by turning your hips and shifting your weight onto your left foot. Let the club fall into position.
