Sergio Bunker Shot: Trigger delay with flip at the end?

Think Sergio throws in a well timed "scoop" on this shot?-- still has tremendous trigger delay beforehand.

Does he do this consistently? Why would he? What shot is he playing? These are the first questions to ask yourself, I think.

Thats what a bunker shot is...a well timed scoop.

Cool, I didn't know that. Good to know; explains a lot of my problems with bunker shots (have a lot of forward lean in my game). I wonder if this is why Butch and Tiger say that the bunker shot is all right hand?

For a good player with lots of forward shaft lean, it might be very helpful to think of a bunker shot as 'a well-timed scoop'.

But I also see a LOT of higher-handicap players who are trying to flip out of the bunker. Brian demonstrates it as trying to eat the ice-cream cone in Over and Out. And long ago when I was taught a very strong grip, ball back in my stance short game, I was also taught to flip from the bunker. But when I switched to a more traditional setup this led to all sorts of problems.

So, for me at least, it's still important to make sure that I lead a bit with the handle in the bunker; otherwise I just flip it in the ugliest way you can imagine and either blade it out or leave it in.

Hope sand is on the short game video. I can get it out; I just don't know where it's going.

Do you have Over and Out? You CANNOT beat that video for sand play. Brian shows you several different strokes that make it very easy. If you don't have it I'd buy it today.
