Sergio has a similar swing to Ben Hogan...

Sergio hits it great...but why do you guys think he does not hit it as well as Hogan did?

One guess of mine would have to do with that big shift he has from the top of his swing.

and....dedication? Drive to refine it?

it's because he let leadbetter change him, aka "de-lag" him.

I don't have stats to back it up but i remember before the de-lagging he was playing unbelievable and was doing better than he is now.

Everyone wanted to 'de-lag' him.

"Forgive them father for they do not know what they do."

Everyone thought the float load-snap release was haphazard, but is it? To a pro? His dad knew better. He knew that Sergio's hands were better educated than Leadbetter's head.

The only teacher that Sergio has had is his Dad. From what I have read and heard his Dad is the only person that he would let touch his swing.
Still despite the de-lagging, he still hits it pretty well.

His driving was better but he hits more greens now: here are Sergio's current stats:

--------GIR-----Total Driving----Ball Striking

2005.......4th..........38th...................15th
2004.......4th.........109th..................51st
2003.....77th...........89th..................85th
2002....130th............4th..................61st
2001.....54th............1st...................16th
2000....176th...........3rd.................. 89th

What holds Sergio back is his putting.
