Sergio warming up

Anyone see it? He was using a weighted driver, was that the momentus version? Anyone else use a weighted driver? I tested one once, took several swings to get used to it. Not sure what I thought about it. I've heard that swinging a weighted club can slow your swing down, is that true??

Thanks

Vijay has been using one for years...his weighs in at around 10 lbs!....

One thing about a heavy club is that you can't muscle it. It will follow whatever path the weight dictates...good if you tend to be too muscle-active (arms/hands) during your downswing,,

Sergio also seemed to use alot oof right hand only swings before each shot in his round.... keeping right wrist bent...

He always sets up with right forearm on plane when he grounds the club then adjusts himself to hands only plane... but very close to his elbow plane....

Sergio's dad would be a fascinating guy to talk to... he clearly did alot of things right in teaching Sergio his golf.

I have been using the Momentus power hitter for over a month now. I picked up the 275 not the 310. I'm 6 feet, 210 pounds and I felt the 310 to be just too heavy. The 275 felt alot better. It has helped me in adding distance to my drives. I feel it has increased my club head speed some. I'm getting it checked in a couple weeks. I feel that its a good warm up club. The weight helps my flexibility in the takeaway and strengh in my forearms. The club helps my hands/arms get turned properly at impact. This is just my opinion, others might have different experiences with this club.

If swung properly a weighted club can help

But

If have cluhead throwaway a weighted club can promote more of it by causing you to break your wrist sooner due to the weight pulling on them.

I use the speed stick.....it's like a dowel stick on steroids!!!

I can see some benefits for sure..........with loading, rhythm/tempo, release................but watch those joints too. That sucker will try to pull your arm off your torso and your elbow off your arm if you go at it too hard or have some slack in there.

Yeah you gotta be easy with it at first. I think my arms have stretched a few inches...lol. I concentrate on a nice slow takeaway and a smooth finish through the ball.

Good question...

20 handicapper:

Slow motion FULL SWINGS with an 8-iron, trying for very slow and very heavy contact. Then just speed up the pivot a little on ech successive ball. Maybe 10-12 balls, then one driver at 50%, one at 75%, and whatever the first shot if the day is.

10 handicapper:

Slow motion FULL SWINGS with an sand wedge, trying for very slow and very heavy contact. Then just speed up the pivot a little on ech successive ball. Maybe a half-dozen balls, then about four 8-irons at about 70%, then the 5-iron, a hybrid or two, one good fairway wood, then one driver at 75%one at regular speed, and whatever the first shot if the day is.

Tour Player:

Slow motion FULL SWINGS with an sand wedge, trying for very slow and very heavy contact. Then just speed up the pivot a little on ech successive ball. Maybe a half-dozen balls, then about a half-dozen 8-irons, 6 irons, 4 irons, a few hybrids or 5-woods (whatever you use), a couple of smooth 3-woods and one or two HARD ONES, then a couple of smooth drivers, then a couple HARD ones, and whatever the first shot if the day is.

Do they promote early release?

Only way I can see they don't is if used in slow motion doing a slow motion float load (learning new phrases fast ;) )

I have used them and I think they have made me a worse flipper, but a fast flipper.
