Setting Club at the Top of Backswing

This is my first post and I just want to say I thoroughly enjoy the forum and appreciate the insight from all the contributors. I have recently suffered from a loss of distance in all my shots. I am a pretty decent player (10 HDCP) but noticed on a recent video of my swing that I have stopped setting the club at the top of my backswing. I get the club in a pretty good position face wise but do not ever reach a 90 degree angle between my left arm and the club. Can I acheive this desirable position through more right wrist bend at the top? Any advice on how to acheive a more powerful position to acheive more lag and increased distance would be appreciated. Thanks.

Lag is an effect, not a cause. Motion creates lag. Then you get rid of it in the downswing.

Hard to say specifically without seeing your the dynamics of your backswing or transition. Are your wrists frozen?

Anyone can just bend wrists or whatever and say they have "more lag". But if it isn't created dymanically then you're not going to get rid of it dynamically, and all you're doing is flipping your hands around from one position to another.

Can you post your swing?

I'd allow your arms to bend more, and add just a touch of right wrist bend—as long as it didn't change the face angle at the top much.

A "Lagging Clubhead Takeaway" would help some as well.

Thanks Brian and Jim. I'll try and acheive more arm bend without compromising my face angle at the top and see if that helps. I have tried to incorporate some LCT before but it seemed to lead to inconsistency in my shot pattern. I was probably overdoing it.

Good image think "Psycho"

I think he's saying that his right hand feels as if it is holding a dagger (a little more in the fingers than you'd hold a real dagger), then make a move as if to stab into an impact bag placed somewhere near low point.
