Less open with shorter clubs and more open with longer clubs, the more closed they are when they should be open will lead to hooks and the opposite would lead to slices

Shoulders can fly open too soon though...can't they?

I have trouble with this when I try to swing more left. My shoulders will stay level and open very quickly, that causes the right arm to get on top and then it is welcome to pull city.

True, but most times too open shoulders leads to a high right shoulder as you have said but also to an open clubface too, which usually leads to the right shot rather than a pull. However what you describe is possible

OK, Jim, so how in your opinion should we monitor the correct amount of openess of shoulders at impact ? IMHO, it is closely related to the CoG shift of the lower body.

Cheers

Brian's rule is that he likes to see for every amount of axis tilt you create your shoulders need to be the same amount of degrees open this would be the "ideal" but can be changed for different shots
