Shoulders controlling launch angle?

Brian and others, although I've visited this site almost daily since it first appeared, this is my first post so I hope this makes sense. I went to my local golf store to replace the shaft in my driver because all of my drives are exceptionally high. I was thinking I needed a stiffer tipped, high flex point shaft to help lower my ball flight. My ball speed on the monitor was about 158-160 consistently,no matter what shaft I used, my launch angle was about 15-16 degrees. The fitter said that my shoulders were opening to fast on the downswing. He had me hit some balls with the feeling of holding my shoulders back longer on the downswing. Right away my launch angle dropped to about 12-13 degs. Was this just a fluke ? can your shoulders really influence launch angle that much?. Ive seen you discuss "axis tilt" before, does this mean that I should try to feel my left shoulder working "up" and not around to start the downswing?

Is that swing speed 158-160 mph or kph ?
What shaft have you got in now, if you are swinging at 150mph+ you will need X+ Flex. And don't worry about axis tilt as I'm sure at 158 mph you may already have enough.:)

Sorry,(foot in mouth), misread ball speed.:)

I would say yes, to a degree - the more 'left sided' you feel during your swing, the more likely you will hit it lower, and the more you will likely draw it

hitting the ball with the 'back of the left shoulder' and left side
