Shoulders Too Quick

I have a terrible and well-ingrained habit of starting my downswing with my shoulders. Of course that immediately throws the club outside, and nothing good can happen from there. Teachers tell me I'm in a pretty good position at the top, and I just need to delay the shoulder turn to let the hands and arms start the club from the inside. And I TRY and TRY, but the damn shoulders want to FIRE from the top.
Does anyone have any good drills or suggestions for how to break this swing-wrecking habit ??
Thanx for your time and comments.........

NEVER!!!

You should NEVER EVER delay the shoulders. Well, feeling like you do might help some folks...

But, I digress...

The Right Shoulder—if it turns far enough on the backswing—simply needs to move down the plane it formed by turning flat-ish on the backstroke.

It moves DOWNward, OUTward, and FORWARD toward and PAST the ball, basically on the target line.

You sound like you have ROUNDHOUSE SHOULDERS, which means it turns too high through the ball.

ON-PLANE SHOULDERS feel sorta like rock-skipping.

Make sure your TAILBONE stays ahead of your NECKBONE through impact.

Thank you Brian for the prompt advice. I've watched Sticky #5, Right Shoulder Down Plane, several times and my shoulders are certainly higher than that !!
I'll get to working on that at the next several range sessions, and will let you know how it goes. Thanx again........

Hi Brian,paesano italiano,
is that (starting the downswing with left heel) valid both for HITTING
and SWINGING procedures? (I'm a HITTER).

Thank you Brian for the great advice !! You were so right....I had "roundhouse shoulders". I've been working hard on "right shoulder down the line" and it's a HUGE help!! And with my flatter left wrist, most shots now start at the target and draw left. If that pattern holds, I'll gradually weaken my grip until they straighten out.
Thank you again. This forum and web site are a great thing for us hackers, and I appreciate it greatly.
