Smart phone golf app.

I am finally going to get a smart phone and was wondering if anybody had any feedback on the different golf apps out there and which is the best, this may make choosing which smart phone easier. Also, how accurate are the gps yardages? Thanks, Matt.

I downloaded and used Golf Ti. It was cheap, easy to use, decently accurate, and very easy to add new golf courses; I just emailed the company and sometimes, within hours, they had added a new course.

However, I found that I didn't want to waste time with a GPS program, I just used my laser more and more, so I haven't even used the program in a while...maybe I'll give it another try at our Championship this weekend...

I have the iPhone 3Gs and after a bunch of internet googling and reading user comments on the various golf-type apps available ended up getting the GolfShot GPS and MyiSwing swing video apps.

The GolfShot was $30 (one time payment, no subscription charges) and MyiSwing was $10 (I think).

Both are pretty good apps, no problems so far and they do the trick.

I have used some, but I have a skycaddie so I use that all the time. The thing about the ones for your phone - severe battery drain.

Even for older phones like a G1 you can run programs like SetCPU that will underclock your CPU when it's not needed and radically extend your battery life. You can also use a profile manager for settings like your screen's brightness. Just with those two battery life will more than double.

I like GolfShot GPS for recording my scores and statistics, it has really helped my game. Btw, no problems with battery w/iPhone 4.
