snap release

Hi all, I am a newbie and have purchased Brian's building blocks and confessions of a former flipper vids. My question is when I try to hold or as Brian puts it store I get shanks and fades. I have read in some threads about a snap release but I haven't found where this type of release is described. But to get any good shots I have to feel like I have a snap release. Then I get a ball flight that is very straight, long, and high. When I do this I just feel like when I get to the top I let everyting start slow and gradually pic up speed but not from me forcing it just letting the club swing thru with very soft hands(very light grip pressure). It feels like I have no control over the club when it is coming into impact but the results are very good. Just looking for some guidence? Is this right or wrong. Any info would great. Oh by the way I am left handed.

Snap Release is just a very late Release....as late as possible.

See Sergio.

We recently have had one or two threads about exactly this...shanks w/ Snap Release. You will prolly find that you need to fix your clubface....prolly.

Do a search for "shank."

Snap release and maximum trigger delay aren't the same thing (Sergio)

The reason why you are shanking/fading the ball is because you are learning to "store it" before you learned how to "control it" (clubface control)

Thanks for the reply fellas. Jim can you go into a little detail?
Let me say this when I get over the ball and think maximum trigger delay that equals shanks, fades, and pushes. If I think about Brian's fiddle drill which feels to me like a snap release I get a straight, high, and long result it is just inconsistent right now. So just courious if this is right and keep at it to get consistant or am I going down the wrong road again? I am sure everyone here knows how hard it is to change bad habits so I am just trying not to change bad habits to other bad habits.

Sounds like you are not squaring the sweetspot. I would think you need to add some roll of the left forearm with that release. Some call it hinging some call it swivel. You're just not getting the sweetspot around the hosel so the hosel is hitting the ball first. Rotate that forearm to square up the back of the flat left hand and clubface.

Please explain.

Just like brian said in another post, you are learning to lag the clubhead into impact, however you are basically lagging the hosel instead of the sweetspot.

you need to learn a flat left wrist and how to get your hands ahead of the ball before you learn to delay release so long.

Always fix the face first.
