Soft Draw - Driver and Longer Clubs

I'm having trouble w/ driver and hybrids w/ the soft draw pattern (I don't carry fairway woods). My typical hybrid shape is more of a hook than it is a draw. My driver varies between a low pull left and a crushed push right.

I'm having a hard time rationalizing the SD backswing w/ the longer clubs because they have a much flatter swing plane.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the correct feeling? Are there some checkpoints to hit in the backswing? Should my hands get high in the back swing to mirror the finish? Any help would be appreciated.

FYI - my contact w/ SD is great on irons. I have to concentrate to keep the ball from overdrawing slightly though.

The first thing I'd do is change your username to something more optimistic. I'd leave what to do after that for other members ;)

Same boat. I posted a few days ago about me crushing my pushes. Whatever we are doing wrong it's sounds like it's the same thing. Brian was supposed to make a video that night of a drill where you use your driver and a scorecard. Looks like he forgot.

I also have been battling the pushes with the Soft draw pattern. However, the tip Brian gave the other day about the left elbow moving into the left ribcage and then pointing to the ground helped cure it. For me, it was all sequence.

Can you show me where this post is? Haven't seen it. Thanks

"The left elbow can thwart it all.

If it doesn't rotate, the rest will have hit a roadbock.

Feel like the elbow "pit" is always visable by you, and the elbow "point" is always rotating toward your left rib cage first, and then the ground."

Ok, this must be what you guys are talking about. Except I have no clue what he is talking about. Can someone help? Thanks

Name is now officially changed. No more busting my (golf) balls TZ.

Tried the above and wasn't overly successful with it. I'll keep working. Thanks to everyone for the replies.

Bonesy, if I pull too hard with left side, it is push city. I try to lighten left hand grip pressure, if the left arm tightens at all, the left elbow does not rotate in time. I have found that if my left elbow rotates or swivels earlier in the downswing, no push. This is a feel, the rotation does not occur until after impact, but I try to feel it occurs around my right leg.
