Soft Draw Pattern Takeaway

I've decided this is the pattern that fits me and my natural tendencies. The only piece of the pattern that feels totally foreign to me is the feeling of the right elbow higher than the left thru the takeaway. It definitely adds a steep feel to my backswing pulling my left shoulder in and underneath and although it feels awkward and maybe even a little uncomfortable it seems to be working. I'm still learning the basics of the swing and would like to know why this move seems to help me so much.

I was previously on a "Hardy" mission before i found the manzella way and even though i was bent over a lot more (one plane) i think i flattened out and laid off quite a bit at the top.

So is the right elbow higher than the left keeping my hands in and the clubhead a little out comparatively?

#1. The right arm motion of the Soft Draw Pattern is designed to ELIMINATE laying the club off by over rotating the Left Arm & Club Unit.

#2. The hands-in, no "pop out" takeaway move is designed to ELIMINATE the need to even try to do #1.

I was hitting push on some of my shots today at the golf course and I couldn't find out why. I have been hitting pretty solid lately, and those shots kinda surprised me. I felt like my hands were getting tiny bit laid off. So i look at the mirror and I noticed that I had a flatter shoulder turn than before. I fixed it right away when I have a steeper shoulder turn.

The LCT was just recommended to me and I started experimenting with the pushing of the grip-end on the backswing with my left arm. I find when I do that everything falls into place with the arms in the takeaway, if I pivot correctly. This is for me though...I am just now trying to learn how both arms work in the swing, and how to feel the weight of the clubhead. Hope this helps a little.

I`m confused about how the takeaway is done. Brian do you use a right hip takeaway, body or it looks like your saying to use your sternum in the soft draw pattern....joe
