Soft Draw Rocks!

I have been swinging the club pretty good lately and I have been heavily imploying the "confessions of a former flipper" approach to hitting the golf ball. In fact I always thought it was a sin to allow your right wrist to relax and unbend through impact. But yesterday I came back on this forum and seen that the soft draw video was available for download and couldn't resist seeing what all the fuss was about.

After watching it twice to make sure I understood all the points I went out and imeadiatley had great success with this swing pattern. It fits me like a glove. I still can't believe it's better and more natural than what I have been doing which I thought was really good. The first swings I made were way too hard and the ball sailed off to the left with great distance. I just backed off a little on the swing speed and whamo, distance galore with directional accuracy and control. It felt effortless to hit the ball 100 yds with the sand wedge and 120 yds with the PW. I never used to hit those clubs that far before although I was getting close recently. It all took less energy to swing using this pattern. I used to have a follow though like this a long time ago but never got the back swing right to match up with it. This pattern ROCKS! and Manzella is a genius instructor.

I'd like to add that your success with soft draw doesn't mean that your time with CFF was a waste either...it's difficult to take a big time flipper who has open face issues and put them right into the soft draw

Started hooking it badly at first today. What I figured out fairly quickly though was the club was getting too laid off in the top of the back swing because I forgot about the right elbow needing to be higher than the left. As soon as I got that fixed (I'm just going to have to get used to that) the ball was going dead straight or drawing in a little:). I love this swing. I was able to perform my older swing with more of bent right wrist through impact just fine as well so I guess I can use it as a backup swing on the course.

Plus I like just practicing the toss just by getting into the toss position and making a short back swing and concentrating on the tossing motion. It goes right where I want it to go direction wise but...

Bad news though, I was working on this at a small park by my house and I accidently tossed a ball right into the windshield of my Honda Accord . I usually set up the balls near the car and play away from it and then collect the balls, but today I got a little cocky and thought I could control my distance and toss em back toward my car. Stupid, I know but I couldn't help my self. Oh well, glad it's not a new car.
