Soft Draw with Impact Hands?

Hi All,

I want to first say I have become a big fan of this forum. Great posts and advice given. I have learned a lot. Based on what I read here, and from Brian's Youtube videos, I went ahead and bought 2 of his videos, COFF and the SDP. I really like what he has to say in both videos, but really took to what he said in the SDP video, as a draw (well, almost hook) is my predominant shot shape. And, I seem to naturally do some of the things that Brian says are OK, whereas other patterns it isn't (I have fought being across the line at the top for an eternity...it is nice to hear that it might be something that could work for me).

My question is, is it OK to have a slight mixture of both SDP and COFF working? Specifically, I found while trying to implement the elements of the SDP into my swing that focusing on Impact hands really produced some great shots. Impact hands, or focusing on an aiming point, are of course, a big part of what he talks about in COFF. However, I know Brian talks about feeling like you are toss the club through impact for the SDP pattern.

Thanks!

Kevin

I don't see why not, I do that same thing. For me impact hands makes it easier to use a rotated (steeper shoulder turn) finding the turned shoulder plane. I don't know why but mid body hands just does not seem to work as well.

Though if I use say a Jimmy Ballard pattern, which is bigger move off the ball against a braced right leg, full swing pattern, well I can't come close to that move with impact hands.
