I have found that you want to have a little less bounce and more leading edge for compacted sand. It may depend on wether there is something under the ball. i.e. just the surface of the sand is crusty. My preference is to use as much bounce as is possible. I played a muni not too long ago that I used a pw out of their little concrete craters.
