Juuuuuuust a touch. Enough to hold it straight. The other guy is a student of Brian's and mine. He's doing great, good guy.

Kevin, can I ask you about your swing? At impact you look like your hips are not open, can you comment on that and what the trade offs are? Also, do you leave some power on the table with square hips as opposed to open at impact? Thanks, Matt

By the way I would kill for a tempo like that.

sorry, i know we've gone over this but...
how could you tell impact was on the toe? is it b/c the hsp and face angle said fade, but the ball didn't?

Bingo! Toe hits add 'left' axis tilt on ball and face was virtually right at the target.

thanks, one more question (i know we've gone over this before, too:eek:)

club path = true path, and it is a measurement/combination of the AoA and the HSP for a given VSP?

Sure, two things. One, my back is XXXX. I cannot tilt and open even if i wanted to. I snap my chain early and add my arms earlier than most. Second, due to a BMX injury, my left arm is fused in a way that turns it inward. So any tilting or torque put on that arm opens my face. Its a constant fear. I may be leaving some distance, but i carry my driver 275 and my 6 there went 187 so im comfortable with that.

Thanks for the tempo comment.

Club path is the 2d direction relative to the target and it is a measurement of the HSP +/- the adjustment to it caused by the VSP and AoA.

I only ask because I played like that for many years and took a couple of lessons from a local guy and that was one of the things he wanted me to work on was getting my hips open at impact. He told me I would hit the ball further with it. I am not busting on you at all, just wanted to know if there was a reason you were closed at impact. Thanks, Matt.

Kev, can you elaborate on this a bit? I had back surgery last year and am finding it very difficult to get the hips any more "open" than square at impact. I have no idea what other elements I should incorporate to work with this limitation. As a reference, our driver and 6 iron yardages are identical.

Impressive!

Kevin Thank you for posting that, Great rhythm you got there.
Few questions,
The video camera was behind the ball and height of hands or shoulder level?
Did you felt like the ball started left a bit to the target line?

Do you have a trackman video swing with driver & wedge?

Kevin,

Thanks for posting your swing and your insight since you joined the forum. Would you say that you're working towards a model (a workable, customised set of components which work for you and your swing and you're physically capable of) or rather working away from your swing tendencies which stop you from achieving what you need to do to hit the ball how you want to?

Yours,

James

No busting was taken. I dont think they are closed though. Alot goes into making a change of open hips. Is that a one to one cause of ballflight. Would opening the hips have a negative effect on anything, do you think?

The secret to me was more weight of the left foot and more hip turn (you can see this from face on). This allows me a better "run up" so I can snap better and use the right arm for power. This has decreased my attack angle nicely and made my swing a thousand times more efficient. Thanks Manzella.

Using #4 accumulator in any way and i might as well take up bowling.

Chad is 6'5" so i think he was bent over somewhere in between the hands and shoulders. The ball started 0.5 degrees left of the target, one of the many illusions of 2d video.

Hell yeah, ill post some wedge and driver swings. We're gonna get 8 inches more snow so ill have plenty of time. Matt(sideyard) is coming in wednesday and we'll tape some.

Interesting question. I have a "pattern zero" that Brian and I have come up with. It's based on every single principle in my opinion that would max out efficiency and zero the path out without crazy number combos. I cant do every component physically all the time and will always fall to the fade side when I'm stiff like i was in that video. When i feel good i can move it both ways at will with this pattern and catch alot of zeros. A video is in the works. We got hurricaned out last time.

This swing didnt have enough "in" hand path. Tight shoulder made me rebound at the top a bit and drag the handle left. The low vertical swing plane shows this as well as the path being like 2.5 left. Contact was very good. The face on swing was better.

Chad is working on similar things as he was a laid off cutter before he went Brian.

I agree they are not closed more like square...I really struggled with it, I hit some really good range sessions and then the rights would come in. I think it exposed my "hold on" release so I have been working on that this winter and hopefully when things thaw out I will have a jump on the golfing season. I also think that is why my swing didn't have much accumulator #4 in it.

Effort

Kevin....how hard were you swinging in this video....100%? 85%? other?

Do you find that you can keep that tempo on course or do you speed up?
