Sopping Wet

I don't know what your part of the world is like but here in Ontario Canada it feels like its been raining on and off for a solid month. My home course looks beautifully lush and green but the turf is sopping wet and is playing havoc on my game. If I catch ground even a little bit before the ball the clubhead buries itself with the result of at least a club less distance. Whern I play the ball back to ensure solid contact every so often I end up driving the ball into the turf and even worse contact. Any suggestions?

Wii Golf

I played last weekend here in Perth, been raining for a week, same situation as you describe, ground all soggy, even drives were plugging half the ball below the ground!!! no fun at all.

The only thing that worked was trying REALLY hard not to take any divot.
We have some VERY hard ground here in the summer, almost like concrete, so we get a bit of practice at such shots.

I guess the difference is 2 days of sunshine and my course will be dry, I imagine in your part of the world they take a little longer to dry out?

Why don't you carry a bit of turf mat with you (just while its soggy)...Make it a much more pleasant day....agree it with your playing partners (and cut a bit of mat for them too...that should do..:))

I think your local greenkeeper would approve to...

yeah, I play allot in a little town north of Tampa called zephyrhills, (yes the same place where the water comes from) anyway, its a giant sinkhole, much like most of Florida... and when the summer rainy season is upon us, it retains water... But, the coarse is still playable, the fun part is the drives that spin backward 2 yards... and have to be careful with your wedges not to dig a trench when playing into the green... I don't find it all that hard to play on, but then again, I have always lived here and played in these summer conditions allot...

I also play in Ontario. When is has been raining a lot I find I just have to be very choosy about the golf course I go to. Some drain way better than others.

Sometimes in Minnesota we get the same weather, although it is dry now. The biggest adjustment I make is not wearing white socks.
