Sounding the bell for forged clubs

Thanks Jim. No wonder I hate all those loud sounding (pinging) drivers. I guess also it could be because it hurts my ears, I move stalls anytime one is in the vicinity. I love the feel of impact with my mp-32's, I guess I also love the sound.

I deluded myself... MIzuno makes really nice irons, but they are too soft for my liking. I like those really old school irons that vibrate your hands, and immediately give feedback.

So says the guy that is breaking out an all hybrid setup this season!

WHAT ARE U TALKING ABOUT WILLIS.

Mizuno gives great feed back.

The only issue I have with forged irons is their durability. My current set is starting to rust a bit and I am looking into the mp-62's.

I started using mp-14's as my first set and they forced me to become a good ballstriker. Man you miss the sweetspot and you will feel it.

On another note I still have a 80's Hogan 1 iron blade that I hit for fun and I can't believe that guys back in the day could hit this club! It is a butter knife.

This thread is awesome!!!

I love Mizuno irons and they way they feel, i play 32 and will probably get them refinished before i would buy another set!

I can see how they would be too soft for some players and they do get nicked up a lot, but personally for me there is no better feedback than hitting a solid iron shot with a forged Mizuno and feeling absolutely NOTHING!, they are so pure in the sweetspot its like hitting air.

I have hit big cast clubs before and the only way I could tell where I hit the ball is if I had impact tape on the face, a lot of high handicappers like this feeling, but if you are trying to work on your swing it is a nightmare, you have no feedback to work with at all.

i play the mx 23s...pretty good mix of feel and forgiveness. i don't know if it is because they are forged, but i know for sure when i don't get it on the sweetspot...but it is nice that when i do miss the sweetspot the ball still goes a little. only thing i would change is the amount of offset on the 23s (ok, and maybe the size of the head...and maybe the topline...this started as an endorsement...)

Mizuno forged irons are the real deal. The only irons I have used for over 20 years. I even had a set of the grads.

MP-14s

Mizunos are the closest I have seen to consistently hitting the gram weights of their clubs consistently which allows the shaft to perfom correctly. I loved my MP-14s when I competed. Very accurate with the yardage. The Mizuno Grads should make a comeback. The best perimeter weighted forging I ever felt. Mizunos are great clubs with good feel. Good luck to all of you who deserve to hit great clubs. Do not forget the shaft has a great deal to do with the feel you experience with any club!

I recently bought some MP 62's (I pick them up tomorrow) and when I was fitted I was fitted for some Rifle shafts. I've hit Rifle before and they weren't bad, but I felt Dynamic Gold was better and had a noticeably better feel. But, I decided to go with Rifle since that's what the clubfitter told me.

I had hit the MP 62's before and loved the performance and the feel and Mizuno just continually makes great golf clubs. I had it down to the 62's or a Cobra combo set of some MB and CB blades, but I didn't quite trust the quality of Cobra vs. Mizuno.

Hopefully as my swing progresses and it's somewhere near where I want it to be I'll be confident enough in getting some KBS Tour shafts that everybody raves about. But the big reason why I chose the Rifles is because I felt quite certain that I would love the MP 62 clubheads and I could just tinker with the clubshafts later down the road.

I have done extensive study on the KBS shaft and will let you know the result as soon as I am finished. I will tell you this, I will give them a second chance. It should be interesting due to the fact that I am trying as hard as I can to put them in my clubs. THEY BETTER BE PERFECT!!! I will be ordering some blanks from them tommorrow. Let the story continue to unfold because I have some of the best minds in golf involved in this adventure and they are not the "prime time" oems or teachers!!:(
I hope you hit it high, far, straight and the right distance.
All the best in golf and life,
MK
