on downswing, its not that i cant start from ground up, although i do struggle, its that my top half goes with my bottom half instead of keeping my shoulders back.

any tips?

Keep your tailbone ahead mate......although i'd want to know WHY they want to go together...and for that you need B-Man or Academy guys to help ya....

Mine go together also. I can get about 10 degrees seperation between my shoulders and hips. I am the incredible inflexible man. I wish I had an answer. Maybe someone here has the same problem and can give a suggestion. Walt

medici,
keep your right upper arm behind your right hip on the downswing....it really is that simple..:)
And if you want to exaggerate during your practice swings, keep your right upper arm behind your right butt cheek.....

i have hardly any hipturn but a big shoulder turn, just feels like my right shoulder wants to go out towards say the camera if getting filmed face on.
putt mad ill try that mate, just annoying as we have the euro pro tour at our club this week and most of the guys just rip it!

medici,
You can cut the grass, right?......you know, with one of those scythe things (grass whip?...)....When you use one of those you don't think about anything but chopping thaT BIT OF GRASS/WEED IN FRONT OF YOU...NO SHOULDER TURN, NO LEG ACTION, NO ARM OR WRIST ACTION, you just concentrate on cutting the grass...try a few warm up swings as if you are cutting the grass, BOTH WAYS (on the backswing too)...
Watch the pros "cut the grass" during their practice swings..:)
Then try it when you hit the ball...

I'm not a big fan of that X factor stuff on the backswing. I think hardly any hip turn is the reason it all wants to go back together, all that tension and torque being built on the on the backswing ......way before it's needed.......in mere average golfers. Fine for Tiger or accomplished golfers but not for "normal" golfers.

I am NO expert but I think X factor on the way down is much more important.

I think a free hip turn will get you in a better position to create some torque and power.....not going back but on the way down. I get much more snap turning the hips as a first move soemtimes. I personally just don't like this static right knee, no hip turn stuff.

Why not build up that tension by turning/moving the hips at the top of the swing as you transition after a free move to the top?

Then again i'm no expert....

I think that you are a great candidate for the Soft Draw pattern. The transition/counterfall part of the video would be great for you.

Spend the money

You should buy Brian's SD video. He already told you once that you suffer from "pop out" (i.e., an over-rotation of your left arm flying wedge).

I knew about it a long time before I ever heard of him...
I was brought up in East Afriica and that is a common implement for cutting grass............

My Grandfather used one all the time... He also use to burn his sod every year. I would run in the burning grass, and my pants would catch on fire. Seems like a good motion to teach the swing.

heres a video guys, i think i could be purchasing the soft draw video!!

been trying to keep more connected and less across the line, downswing just looks rubbish!

I'M SORRY BUT THIS IS GETTING A LITTLE OLD. IT'S LIKE YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A FREE LESSON OR SOMETHING. ALL YOU DO IS START A THREAD AND THEN, "HERE'S MY SWING", AND POST A LINK TO YOUTUBE. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING THIS????? HOW LONG ARE YOU GOING TO CONTINUE???????? IT'S THE SAME PEOPLE ON THIS FORUM DAY IN AND DAY OUT. YOU ARE GOING TO GET THE SAME ANSWERS. I'M SORRY IT'S JUST GETTING OLD AND YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE THAT'S DOING THIS. IT'S FINE TO POST YOUR SWING AND ASK FOR SOME SUGGESTIONS. BUT TO DO IT ALL THE TIME IS JUST OLD. I'VE SAID THIS BEFORE, GO GET A LESSON. AT LEAST PURCHASE A $25 VIDEO THAT MOSTLY EVERYBODY IS RAVING ABOUT; I KNOW I AM. ONCE AGAIN I'M SORRY FOR BEING SO RUDE, I'M HONESTLY A VERY NICE PERSON. BUT WHEN SOMETHING GETS A LITTLE TOO MUCH SOMETIMES I JUST HAVE TO SAY SOMETHING. I APOLOGIZE IF I'M THE ONLY ONE THAT THINGS THIS AND I APOLOGIZE FOR "SCOLDING" SOMEONE ON A SITE THAT'S NOT EVEN MINE. IF THIS IS OUT OF LINE PLEASE DELETE THIS.

PS LIKE "JRJ" SAID, BRIAN ALREADY TOLD YOU SOMETHING TO DO. DO YOU THINK YOU ARE GOING TO GET A BETTER ANSWER FROM US OR FROM THE MAN WE WORSHIP? ONCE AGAIN, SORRY.

999,

You are OVER ROTATING your left arm flying wedge on the backswing.

Here is a quick fix.

Keep your right elbow higher than your left as you try to point the butt of the club on the ground behind you.

When you buy Brian's SD video he lays out an entire pattern that would probably be very good for you.

Let your hands control your pivot, give your hands an assignment on the downswing and your pivot will have to obey.

Downswing waggles, laser trace straight plane line from transition down. Learn the path that the hands have to take on transition-downswing.

To achieve that... you will have to control your shoulders and hula hula.
