The last few rounds I've played I've been focussing on keeping my left arm straight. Keeping it straight has made me realise how bent I'd allowed it to get previously. It's given me a much better feeling of arm/forearm rotation back through impact, which has also allowed me to move my strong left hand grip nearer to 'Manzella neutral'. I've been amazed at the improvement in strike quality and consistency of direction.
Problem is that I know in theory your left arm should be like a piece of rope, kept taught by the extensor action of the right forearm; and that keeping the left arm straight via the left tricep leads to unwanted tension and is pretty much frowned upon.
I've tried and tried with the piece of rope and right forearm extensor action theory, but I just don't get the same feel (or result).
I guess what I'm asking here is am I ok to carry on doing what I'm doing or am I storing up a whole lot of hurt further down the road?
Hope that makes sense
Thanks
Mick
