straightening right wrist ?

When using the NSA pattern, (or any pattern for that matter) should you actively uncock, or straight either wrist angle, bend or cocking before impact?

I can swing amost full speed and hold the wristcocks all the way to the finish, but I seem to get better divots and contact when I straighten right wrist just before impact. Is this flipping? Bad pivot work?

You don't want to consciously straighten your right wrist before or even through impact. On the other hand, I don't think you should actively try to keep it bent either (maybe with short shots). I believe it is more a result of doing other things correctly and through proper reinforcement through the right drills, such as the fiddle drill. If you feel like you need to straighten the right wrist to keep from "running out of right arm," odds are there is something wrong with the pivot.

Are you talking about the arm or the wrist? You want to straighten your right arm through the hitting area. The key is straightening the right arm WITHOUT straightening the right wrist.
The pivot is important here because if you are "too far back" from the ball before impact, you will feel like you can't get to the ball by just straightening the right arm, and therefore will straighten the right wrist too just to get the club there. This can be caused by a few different things, but I think most of the time it is caused by an improper backswing pivot. For example, if you sway your hips to the right on the way back, you'll be too far from the ball on the way down. On the other hand, if you don't get to your right side enough on the backswing, you may overcompensate on the downswing and be stuck in the same place, too "far from the ball."

I will try something a little different to see if it helps. It really does feel like I am running out of right arm.

Good luck. If you have any more questions, just let me know. I am certainly no expert, but I have experimented with a lot of things to get concepts of NSA (and other patterns as well) to work for me, and am happy to help other people working on the same things.
