Straigtening the left leg

When will (should) the left leg straighten during the downstroke? I assume after "both arms straight".

I was having problems with my driver and other woods and found that I was straightening the left leg too early resulting in all kinds of crazy shots - mostly popups.

After focusing on keeping the left leg flexed until after impact the results were dramatic.

If you are going to straighten the let leg, it begins to do so after the Sit Down position is passed. It may or may not be fully straight at impact. Some who have it straight at impact are Tiger, Freddie, Thomas Bjorn. Some who have some flex in the knee at impact include Vijay, Phil, Steve Elkington and Colin Montgomerie.

Some keep both knees flexed thoughout the swing -- Chris Dimarco, for example.

It seems my left leg got more straightened when my shoulders and arms are lagging more behine into impact.

I think I was experiencing a "lift" to go along with the staightening of the leg resulting in popups
Ray:My take is the "lift" is in the left hip resulting in an increase in axis tilt rather than a total hip lift right side as well.

Try to 'time' it with the straightening of your right arm.

Brian,

I like this instruction. Since the right arm is still bent at impact, I take it you prefer the left knee a little bent at impact also? At least, that is what your "signature swing" looks like.

Tiger says he 'snaps' his left leg straight at impact when he wants to get extra distance.

Ala George Brett and the art of Hitting with Charlie Lau.
And Bobby Jones.
But Tiger, Jones and Brett's left is straight at impact like a post. Mac, Byron Nelson and Watson still have a bend in the leg and as Hue posted straighten after impact. Somewhere is works better with some other components of the swing and pivot.

With the straightening or straight left leg, is there greater pressure on left and/or right hip and less pressure on the left knee?

More or less pressure on the knee with both flexed throughout the swing?
