Swing advice, low handicapper

Hi,

Greetings from Scotland, looking for some constructive advice and help with my swing. Play to a 4 handicap at the moment however I have really streaking ball striking. My biggest flaw is the driver, push slices haunt me and for some reason cant turn the driver over. Maybe clubface issue......

Anyone give me some thoughts on what I should work on, only have iron vids at the moment.

Any time I hear push slice I think ball position too far back. For you, being lefty, be sure ball is forward enough and realize that a straight ball with a driver will start right of your alignment/aim. Tee it high and hit it on the way up. If that does not work video another couple swings with the driver, so we can see it.

Can't tell if it's the angle I'm looking at but it looks like you may be slightly closer to the ball than you need to be....

If you have a tendency to do that with the driver, I can see where the push slice is coming from.

solid swing

Hi Lindsey,

Thanks for advice, I usually play my driver ball at the front of my right foot. Never thought about aiming more right of my target line. I usually tee my driver quite low, how high should I tee it to enable sufficent upward strike?

Any other thoughts on the swing itself, going in the right direction.

Hi magicmarker, I just let my arms hang at address then I usually stand at the ball with my toes pointing up in the air, kinda makes me feel balanced. Play my driver ball front edge of right foor.

I agree that you may be a little too close to the ball. In the face on view I think it is the camera angle but it looks like you have the ball way out front and your shoulders are open quite a bit at address. I would like to see the arms a little more in front of you at adress, and your spine tilted a little more to your left. After that I would try turning into your left side a little better.

when you say front edge of right foot, you mean inside your stance or outside (toward the target)?

I think its just a bad camera angle, I usually play longers just slightly forward from middle of stance. Can you desrcibe turning better into right side? Do you mean more coil or a little lateral shift.

Thanks

the way that you extend your arms through impact leads me to believe that you definitely swing right through the ball...
great for iron play, not so much for the driver.
with the ball up there, close your stance more and possibly tee it up a tad higher, rotate your grip so that the face is still on the original target line...from there just swing hard bc you appear to be in great positions.

With the ball more forward, your straight ball aim for being a lefty would be more LEFT not right. The more forward you play it the higher you need to tee it. Teeing the ball low with a driver is also a great way to block slice it by the way. If your hitting it solid off a low tee height, it almost assured to be to far back in your stance as well. Keep moving it forward and teeing it higher, but be sure not to allow your shoulder alignment to get pulled open at address.

Okay, gonna tee it high and let it fly. Will post some vids up with the big stick tomorrow.

Thanks for help so far....

i might work on some lag. Your early release is causing you to 'save" it a bit by not getting arms extended through impact. OR, be more aggressive with your pivot through the ball. im assuming your angle is shallow and ur path is in/out, no?

Tried working on lag but I feel if I have too much I just flip at it, I can muscle the ball quite a bit so distance is not a problem. Path is usually in\out although trying to release a bit more right.
