Swing center keeps moving forward . . .

The low point of my golf swing, or what I think would be called the "swing center" seems to be drifting forward with every swing.

The ball flight is OK for the most part, but I can see where this maybe heading - and my divots are looking like I took a shovel to the fairway

At this rate, I will have the ball 6" in front of my foot with my pitching wedge.

I am heading back to the course this afternoon (2 hours) to play a round of golf - does anyone have any thoughts on what is going on with my swing?

Thanks,
Ron

You are swaying foward in your downswing, very common problem. Learn to keep your tailbone in front of your neck bone at impact. A good drill to learn this feel is to use a PW and do the following:

- 3/4 backswing
- 3/4 follow through (very important)
- try not to let your right foot come off the ground or if you aren't that flexible, allow the weight to transfer to the INSIDE part of your right foot so the whole foot comes off the ground uniformly.

Only use a target about 50 yards away or so, your goal is to hit a very straight shot that draws slightly. If you can figure out how to this consistently, just apply it to your other clubs but instead of keeping the right foot down, allow it to come up naturally.

staying behind the ball

Jim -

I am not sure quite what you mean by "Learn to keep your tailbone in front of your neck bone at impact" but I believe your are correct about swaying forward during the downswing.

From my latest round:

My drives were straight down the middle OR a major slice. Nothing in between. I believe it is because I am drifting forward and not keeping the left shoulder behind the ball, thus opening up the club face.

I skulled 3 pitches as well. I think they maybe related. Had an decent round otherwise -

I am thinking of the old saying " hitting against a firm left side firm" maybe the answer
