I went to a local golf store at lunch the other day and hit 4 drivers; 2 were 45" and 2 were 46". I hit the 45" drivers in the range of 103-105 (more towards lower end) and really felt I had to step on it. The 46" drivers were in the 107-109mph.
While it was in a net so I could not see shot outcome, it amazed me how hard I needed to swing to get the mph's up there. However, I also liked the idea of just concentrating on swing speed and not mechanics. I tend to get too focused on mechanics and my swing felt very good.
It made me wonder if I was swinging too slowly, trying to get in good positions, instead of ripping it. Has anyone changed their tempo/swing speed and seen results?
