Has anyone used the Swing Jacket, as promoted by Peter Jacobson? Is it worth the money - approximately $130?

Hey YODA!

Yes, I have used it...

NO GOOD :(

You can't properly apply extensor action

Welcome Yoda, never used it, but hear that it promotes pivot over hands... and we all know that is a cardinal sin on this boat.

BTW I loved the story you posted on Hemphill and Hogan's right thumb. Hope nobody mines, I'll post the url here:

Maybe you can continue, it is a wondeful story, reminds me of PG Wodehouse for some reason.

And the name Hemphill, well hippies and hobbits need to live close by. hahahaha

Sorry, but I am A YODA, but not THE yoda. My username is all caps, while I believe that his is all lower case.

I've used it.... depends on the student. Very good for someone who is all arms to 'feel' what connection is all about, and pivot.

But I would only use it briefly to get the point across, and only for chip and pitch shots. WAY too limiting. Something to borrow, not to buy.

Brian - I disagree a little about extensor action. It IS actually quite good at letting someone feel what that is, the problem is that it only lets you 'start' to feel it - agreed that you can't extend properly - but it does put you in 'position' to 'feel' the begining of extensor action.... puts you on the right road, but doesn't let you drive down it (literally).

Well, I guess the purpose behind the SJ is to give a student the feel of a connection as Ed says. Also, it appears that it is something to help a student who struggles with the OTT swing which I am sad to say, one of those. Any opinions on what else someone with my affliction can do do to help cure that? I mean, I have seen my OTT in action, but to see and to correct are two different things.

A better way to feel connection is to swing a broom, held down near the broom head, with the handle against the left side. Make hip to hip swings keeping the handle against your left side.

Connection:

The single BIGGEST joke in golf instruction.

I have had it in SPADES with my bad left shoulder.....terrible for your swing/stroke.

Hardly that brian.... perhaps not the right word to convey the point (hands and chest in synch), but hardly a joke. The right idea, if just the wrong word for it.
