Looking at the down the line view, its amazing how good of athletes some of these players really are. The way that guys like chad campbell, paul casey, charles howell III, Wetterich, etc... contort their bodies on the downswing to get their arms back to the ball must take one in a million talent. There is such a big difference in how their downswings look when compared to baddeley, choi, furyk, garcia, harrington, etc... Players who maintain their spine angles through the ball and really use their bodies to hit the ball rather than fight it. Its not a one plane/two plane thing either, because choi and mickelson("obvious" two planers) turn through the ball while maintaining their spine angles as well as anybody on that site.

Dude, Bill Kratzert be talkin' all crazy on these things!

Interestingly, Badds and Dean Wilson don't look very similar. However, Calc's swing reminds me a lot of Tom Bartlett!

And to be honest, I'd rather watch the videos of Adam Mallory (Draw thread) or Arnold Palmer (Long But Not Forgotten thread) than watch these swings. Where's the oomph!? I know, I know, it's freakin' slow motion. But who's using the ground. Maybe Sergio? Glover? Most of these swings look generic and blah to me. Is it just me or are Poulter and Scott trying to make the same exact type of backstroke as Tiger?

The best swings on there are Glover and Sergio. I really like the way Oberholser loads the shaft though.

What is amazing to me is how "sweepy" a lot of players look. T.Clark, Harrington, Rollins, etc. There are a lot that don't get "packed in" as Mr. Doyle would say.

Yeah, Oberholser does load the shaft pretty well, but the hands look a little below the TSP (could be the camera angle) and the left wrist looks bent at the top.

I may never leave the house.

BTW, check out Ben Curtis' impact:eek:
Down the line view of Immelman might replace Rocca as the NSA poster boy.
I feel like I'm at a Pink Floyd concert watching these. Very tranquil.

Yeah, Curtis's left wrist isn't either flat or geometrically flat.

Immelman's another player with a "Tiger-like" backstroke but he has fantastic downplane shoulders on the downstroke. Doesn't look like he uses the ground much, though.

I actually think Calc's swing is my favorite on there. Dynamic pivot. Really good downplane shoulders. Nice grip. Great impact position. Plus, I like how he's not trying to look like anyone!

thanks

thanks so much for sharing...i have a lot of business to do today (still do) but it'll have to wait; i've been working on keeping my elbows down and not out at setup....very hard to accomplish this and not feel very rigid a la Tim Clark face on; somebody please remind me what having the elbows nice and relaxed (pointing out) is bad?? thanks jrj

I'm not knocking Curtis....self belief is probably the best attribute to have. I just now have a more clear indication of why he either finishes in the top 10 or misses the cut. There is no in between with him. He either plays REALLY well or not very good at all....I just think his swing might be a testament as to why.

funny how these guys doing the analysing can talk forever and not actually say anything

Look at how he stands there, as he lifts his arms, bending his joints, and raises the club over his head. Now notice that he hits the ball. :D

Wish they had DTL views too though.

multi--Many of the videos shot face-on have a button on the bottom right that says "Back View", the down-the-line angle you're looking for.
