Swing question

Hello to all. I've read Brian's posts with great interest both at GO and FGI. Look forward to the growth of this forum.

I have a question concerning how power is generated with an Allan Doyle type of swing. I understand that he developed his slap shot style practicing in the basement growing up, but all I have ever read and have been taught about the swing has supported the concept of a smooth downswing that gradually picks up speed through the point of contact. How does this relate to that short, flat type of swing?

I am interested, because my own ability to make a backswing is limited (physical constraints). Any and all opinions would be welcomed.

In a short-ish backswing type of swing, the start down could be smooth (hitting) or sudden (swinging).

The MAIN thing is using your body to downcock your wrist by pulling on the grip end of the club in the change of directions.

This will put you in the power-filled realease point position you see in the conventionally longer swings.

Alan Doyle does this very well, as well as having great forward lean at impact, being on the elbow plane and superior clubface control.

Brian could you go into a little more detail on this move or provide a link where this is illustrated. I like to use a body rotation feel type swing but have trouble generating distance, but I have never thought of using the body to create downc@ck.[?]

Appreciate any help on this!

Glad to see the site is finally up and going!:D

Thanks

Brian

If you have 90 degrees of wrist cock and change directions from THE GROUND UP, if you have loose wrists you SHOULD have "downcock" (Float Loading).

Just like J.W. NICKLAUS!
