Swinger or hitter

Brian,
In your opinion what is the best way for a person to determine if they should swing or hit.

I know what Homer said. I want to know what Brian says. I personally am about equally strong as I am quick so I don't have a preference for either one. The way I see it, swinging should be more accurate day in and day out because the face is squaring consistantly the same way every time on it's own. However, hitters have more direct control over the club because they use pressure points to push against instead of just sensing and aiming them.
