Swivelling Problems

Guys,

Have been hitting a few pushes lately although contact has been pretty good. I have been working more on the finish swivel and getting to "wedding ring up" and perhaps hitting a few balls right to left (have been a leakage hooker in the past but seem to be doing it right now). Using a slightly stronger than manzella-neutral grip i'm finding it hard to hit anything other than straight or straight pushes.

Is there something that would prevent you getting to "wedding ring up"? feel wise it feels like my right arm is quite active if that makes any difference.... not sure if the right is overpowering the left

Thanks

The left elbow can thwart it all.

If it doesn't rotate, the rest will have hit a roadbock.

Feel like the elbow "pit" is always visable by you, and the elbow "point" is always rotating toward your left rib cage first, and then the ground.

For me, this sometimes happens when my lower body turns out too quickly and I don't stop the lower body "ie: snap the kinetic chain".

If my hips turn too quickly, sometimes I can swivel all I want, but the hands just can't catch up. It helps me to make sure I shift or slide the hips first and then turn.

Just a thought. .

As a lefty golfer (who is right handed) I found my that my right arm (lead arm) was overpowering my left arm. I had a real hard time with the finish swivel because of it. I confirmed this when I tried to swing easy. I couldn't square up the club face because my death grip with the right hand wouldn't allow me to square up the club.

Yesterday I loosened my death grip with the right hand and got the grip pressure more evened out. This freed me up to swivel a lot easier and allowed me to hit it very solidly with any swing speed. I have been on this board for a while and I am only just now getting the hang of the finish swivel. It's been my "missing" ingredient for a long time. It was a motion that felt completely foreign to me till this year when I finally "got it". Hang in there and keep working.

smooth,

Where is your ball going off the clubface? You mentioned you're hitting a push......just so we're defining a push the same way it's flying "straight" i.e. no curving left or right, but is on a line to the right of the target?

If the above is true I'd say your swing path is the problem, not the finish swivel. Probably the case if you're hitting a few "leaky" shots to the left too.

The finish swivel is after whatever hinge action you're trying to perform. Swivel/hinge action are not substitutes, they're mutually exclusive!

What I have found that helped me the most was making sure I turned my chest through the shot.

In other words my chest was facing right of the target and my divots ( if I took one) would point right.

Now I try to get my chest through the shot and get my left shoulder as far away as possible from the ball.Brian has talked about this in the past.

for some reason that would be a pull hook for me if i did that.
